GENERAL RULES
1. Entry fee: $15 per animal per event by April 25, 2008
    $25 per animal after April 25 and day of show
    NO REFUNDS
2. Exhibitors are to be youth ages 7 to 19.
3. Exhibitors must furnish their own feed. No bedding is allowed - Mats only. There is a compost pile near the barns.
4. Exhibitors must show their own animal for showmanship classes. Only one animal per species may be used.
5. Lyon County Extension Office and all concerned are not responsible in case of accident or injury.
6. Show coordinators reserve the right to keep any individual from showing in the Lyon County Spring Extravaganza for any reason they deem necessary.
7. All market classes will be weighed and divided into classes by weight and breed (meat goats by weight only).
8. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: No health papers are required for any species.
9. All ewes, ewe lambs and does (goats) must be identified with the USDA Flock Premises Tag. Dairy goats may have registration papers with matching tattoo.
10. 10. On Saturday any vehicles hauling sheep and/ or goats must be checked in before any animal in the vehicle is unloaded. All trailers will enter the Fair Grounds from the West and stop at the designated check- point. All sheep and goats will be checked for sore mouth and club lamb fungus by a veterinarian. If infected animals are found, they will be sent home. Check- in will be from 8: 00 - 10: 00 am on Saturday, May 10. No lambs or goats may be unloaded prior to or after this time. Dairy goats will be checked by the Dairy Goat superintendent on Friday. There will be a $1/head vet fee payable at the time of inspection.
11. Animals shown in Market classes are not eligible to show in breeding classes. Market animals may be ewes or wethers and must be slick shorn with no blocking prior to vet inspection. No artificial coloring will be allowed.
12. A Bucket Calf is defined as an orphan or newborn calf, male or female, dairy, beef or cross, fed on a bucket or bottle. A Bucket Calf can be a steer, bull or heifer.

AWARDS

- The following awards will be given:

1. There will be no cash payback , only non- cash prizes for class winners. Gift certificates awarded to top three places (75% payback on entries).
2. Showmanship prizes in all species will be: 1st - $25 and 2nd - $15 gift certificates to Showtime Show Supplies.
3. Overall Champion Bucket Calf exhibitor will receive an award.
4. Champion and Reserve Champion Market Beef and Champion and Reserve Champion Breeding Heifer will receive $100 and $50 gift certificates respectively.
5. Champion Market Lamb and Reserve Champion Market Lamb will receive $100 and $50 gift certificates respectively. 6. Champion Dairy Goat, Market Meat Goat, Meat Goat Breeding Doe, and Breeding Ewe will receive $50 gift certificates.
7. Reserve Champion Dairy Goat, Market Meat Goat, Meat Goat Breeding Doe, and Breeding Ewe will receive $25 gift certificates.

1. Market, wether & doe kids will be allowed to show and will be shown together.
2. Temporary incisors must be in place and there should be no evidence of breaking of the skin or eruption of permanent incisors.
3. Dehorning is preferred. If not dehorned, the horns must be tipped prior to arrival at the fairgrounds.
4. Meat goats must be slick shorn above the knees and hocks.
5. Use of halters, collars or chains is allowed in show ring.

The following animal rights information shall apply to this Lyon County Extension livestock function:

“The Show Superintendents and Coordinators have agreed that the word abuse includes: beating, use of injections and use of electric prods. These shall be deemed as inhumane treatment of animals and may warrant dismissal from this function. They may determine that any exhibitor who inhumanely abuses an animal may be barred from showing and will forfeit any premium money or prizes won. They have the right to interpret these rules in the best interest of the Lyon County Extension Program. The decision of the Superintendents or Coordinators shall be final. Lyon County Extension Office and all concerned are not responsible in case of accident or injury.”
